Child & Adolescent Psychiatry Fellowship

Dell Children’s is a multispecialty medical hospital and the only pediatric Level 1 Trauma Center in Central Texas, serving a 46-county area. Texas Child Study Center, located in Dell Children’s, is a multidisciplinary outpatient clinic that provides high-quality emotional and cognitive treatment for a diverse population of Central Texas youths and families.

The Counseling and Mental Health Center provides counseling, psychiatric, consultation and prevention services. This is an elective experience offered in the program’s second year.

The service is a 30-bed facility, which serves a patient population, ages 4 to 18 years. There are three units: a male adolescent unit, a female adolescent unit and a mixed latency unit. Developmentally delayed children and adolescents are integrated on the units of the same chronological age, unless there are significant developmental considerations that indicate otherwise. Fellows learn psychiatric assessment and management, psychopharmacotherapy, individual and group therapy, behavior modification and interdisciplinary team leadership skills.
