Integrity is choosing courage over comfort; choosing what is right over what is fun, fast, or easy; and choosing to practice our values rather than simply professing them.

I am so glad you are interested in our program! In our Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Fellowship Program, we strive to provide the best education through didactics, informal teachings and clinical experiences in order to prepare our graduates to take on any clinical setting and any age in their careers. The combination of energetic new faculty members, bold new programs and cutting-edge research is leading to new training opportunities and ways to make a difference in the lives of children. We have a multitude of amazing opportunities at our fingertips with our association with The University of Texas at Austin, Dell Medical School and the Ascension Healthcare System.

As part of our program, you will care for children and adolescents in the Grace Grego Maxwell Mental Health Unit of the state-of-the-art Dell Children’s Medical Center of Central Texas and provide consultation throughout the hospital as part of our integrated consult-liaison team working closely with psychology attendings and trainees. You will build on outpatient skills in the innovative, multidisciplinary Texas Child Study Center, which is located within Dell Children’s. You will gain experience in our partial hospital program and in community psychiatry through local mental health authority locations, as well as gain experience in working within Texas Child Health Access Through Telemedicine. Our faculty are devoted to helping you develop into an excellent clinician and to find and hone your special talents or interests in the rapidly changing field of child and adolescent psychiatry.

While your work days will be filled with a wealth of learning experiences, the mild call requirements and family-friendly attitude of our program will afford you time for your personal life in one of the most interesting cities in the nation. Music, outdoor activities, sports, political action, theater, film and a quirky atmosphere make Austin a unique and stimulating place to live.

We are excited for the future of our field and our program. We look forward to hearing from you.

Our core values: transparency, communication, honesty, integrity, fairness, respect, accountability, and wellness.
