Orthopaedic Surgery Residency

Developing Value-Focused Orthopaedic Surgeons

The Orthopaedic Surgery Residency at Dell Medical School at The University of Texas at Austin provides a transformative educational experience to orthopaedic surgical residents that will shape their practice and improve the management of musculoskeletal disease through a deeper understanding of value-based, patient-centered health care delivery.

Training in the program emphasizes leadership, teamwork, care transformation and the pursuit of outcomes that matter most to patients.

Training Facilities

The training sites, including four hospitals and three surgery centers, equip residents to perform both inpatient and outpatient surgical procedures and practice orthopaedic care that emphasizes value, efficiency and innovation.

Dell Seton Medical Center at UT Austin.

Dell Seton is the primary teaching hospital of Dell Med and the program. It is the referral center for all of Central Texas and is the only adult Level 1 trauma center within 60 miles. Dell Seton was recently named the one of the top 10 most socially responsible hospitals in America.

Dell Children's Medical Center of Central Texas.

Dell Children’s is the only pediatric Level I trauma center and Level IV NICU care center in Central Texas. The center provides care for infants, children and adolescents in a 46-county area.

Ascension Seton Medical Center.

This busy private community hospital offers 38 operating suites where more than 1,000 joint replacement procedures are performed each year.

Ascension Seton Hays provides advanced medical care to the residents of Hays, Caldwell and South Travis counties. The facility’s wide array of services and team of expert medical professionals provide personalized care to help patients return to their normal lives.

Ascension Seton Northwest provides compassionate, personalized care. In northwestern Austin, Ascension Seton Northwest’s ER includes high-quality adult care and pediatric emergency care doctors in Dell Children’s ER center. The doctors, surgeons and care team work together to deliver care that is right for each patient. The team listens to understand the patient’s health concerns and then creates a care plan together.

Texas Orthopedics Surgery Center.

With more than two dozen providers, Texas Orthopedics is distinguished as the largest orthopaedic surgery practice in the area, providing comprehensive care for all orthopaedic specialties.

Medical Park Tower.

This surgery center focuses on offering a high-quality, service-oriented environment for general and specialty surgical procedures.

Specially For Children OR at Dell Childrens Medical Group.

Strictly Pediatrics provides quality, accredited surgical care to children and adolescents in Central Texas.
