Pediatric Emergency Medicine Fellowship

Providing Innovative Training in Pediatric Emergency Medicine

The Pediatric Emergency Medicine Fellowship at Dell Medical School at The University of Texas at Austin puts fellows’ career aspirations first, leading to successful pediatric emergency medicine attendings and a fruitful fellowship. All fellows receive independent and supervised training and are supported to explore and gain experience in research, clinical training, teaching and advocacy.

The fellowship’s mission is to provide fellows with a training program and individualized learning plan that ensures they are prepared to excel in any career path available within the field of pediatric emergency medicine.

The Pediatric Emergency Medicine Fellowship is jointly affiliated with Dell Med’s departments of Pediatrics and Surgery and Perioperative Care.

Training Facilities

The training facilities include an award-winning Level I trauma center children’s hospital, a dedicated simulation center and a brand-new Level I adult trauma facility.

Dell Children's Medical Center of Central Texas.

The emergency department at Dell Children’s sees approximately 80,000 patients a year and provides the highest level of pediatric emergency medicine care — including NICU, PICU and surgery — in a 46-county area.

Dell Seton Medical Center at UT Austin.

Dell Seton is the only adult Level I trauma center in the region and is home to Dell Med’s Emergency Medicine Residency.

Ascension Seton Medical Center.

The Ascension Seton Family of Hospitals has a Level III NICU, located at Ascension Seton Medical Center Austin, where emergency medicine-trained fellows complete a four-week NICU rotation.

Dell Children’s Simulation Center

This brand-new, state-of-the-art center is located within the Dell Children’s Medical Center and plays a critical role in health care education. It hosts bioskills labs where physicians can learn new procedures and train with new medical devices. Fellows learn and teach simulation skills using this high-fidelity facility.

Application & Eligibility Details

This fellowship is designed for residents trained in either pediatrics or emergency medicine who wish to become highly skilled leaders and clinicians in the field of pediatric emergency medicine.
