The Pediatric Emergency Medicine Fellowship puts fellows’ career aspirations first, leading to successful pediatric emergency medicine attendings and a fruitful fellowship. All fellows receive independent and supervised training and are supported to explore and gain experience in research, clinical training, teaching and advocacy.

The Pediatric Emergency Medicine Fellowship is jointly affiliated with the departments of Pediatrics and Surgery and Perioperative Care.

Training Facilities

The training facilities include an award-winning Level I trauma center children’s hospital, a dedicated simulation center and a brand-new Level I adult trauma facility.

Dell Children's Medical Center of Central Texas.

The emergency department at Dell Children’s sees approximately 80,000 patients a year and provides the highest level of pediatric emergency medicine care — including NICU, PICU and surgery — in a 46-county area.

Dell Seton Medical Center at UT Austin.

Dell Seton is the only adult Level I trauma center in the region and is home to Dell Med’s Emergency Medicine Residency.

Ascension Seton Medical Center.

The Ascension Seton Family of Hospitals has a Level III NICU, located at Ascension Seton Medical Center Austin, where emergency medicine-trained fellows complete a four-week NICU rotation.

Clinical Education Center.

As Central Texas’ largest clinical educational facility, the Clinical Education Center plays a critical role in health care education. It hosts bioskills labs where physicians can learn new procedures and be trained on using new medical devices. All fellows learn and teach simulation skills using this incredible free-standing facility.
