Eligibility
The General Surgery Residency requires applicants to be certified in advanced cardiac life support. Successful applicants will be required to obtain ACLS certification prior to orientation for the residency program.
Preferred qualifications include:
- A passing score on the United States Medical Licensing Step 1 exam.
- Scores of 230 and above on each United States Medical Licensing Examination Step 2 exam.
- No failures on each USMLE exam.
- Medical school graduation within the last five years (international applicants).
- U.S. clinical experience with no gaps in medical training for more than one year.
Application Procedure
Applications are accepted through the Electronic Residency Application Service, and review begins on Sept. 29. The deadline to complete an application is Dec. 1, but early application is encouraged.
For the 2024 ERAS cycle, the residency will be participating in the supplemental ERAS application offered through the AAMC’s ERAS program. Applicants will be required to complete the MyERAS application, and participation in the supplemental ERAS application is optional.
Interview Process
Applicants selected to interview will be notified via Interview Broker. Interviews will take place in November and December for categorical residents and in January for preliminary residents.
