The Primary Care Sports Medicine Fellowship at Dell Medical School at The University of Texas at Austin is a 12-month training program focused on providing a comprehensive, longitudinal experience in sports medicine in pediatric, adolescent and adult populations.
The interdisciplinary faculty group is comprised of fellowship-trained specialists within the Ascension Seton Medical Group and Dell Med, including individuals in primary care sports medicine, orthopaedic surgery, physical medicine and rehabilitation, emergency medicine, musculoskeletal radiology and cardiology. Fellows will have the opportunity to work closely with and learn from other health care professionals, including athletic trainers, doctors of pharmacy, exercise physiologists, nutritionists, physical therapists, coaches and behavioral scientists.
Fellows will have access to sporting events, team sports and mass participation events. The program’s faculty function as team physicians for UT Athletics (NCAA Division I), UT RecSports, Akins High School, Austin Gilgronis (MLR), Austin Bold FC (USL), USA Boxing events, Texas Stars Hockey, Lone Star Youth Soccer Organization, Circuit of the Americas racing events and many local races in running and cycling.
The fellowship program is committed to clinical research and it reserves time in your schedule for you to pursue research objectives. You are required to complete a research presentation during your fellowship year.
