Eligibility

All applicants must be from a residency program accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education in either family medicine, physical medicine and rehabilitation, or emergency medicine. Applicants must be eligible to obtain a permanent license to practice medicine in the state of Texas.

Applicants interested in the Primary Care Sports Medicine Fellowship at Dell Medical School should note the following eligibility criteria:

  • Applicants must apply via the Electronic Residency Applicant Service and must enroll in the National Residency Matching Program.
  • Applicants must be of good professional character, with at least three letters of recommendation attesting to their academic and personal qualifications. One letter of recommendation must be from the applicant’s current program director.
  • Applicants must be board-eligible in family medicine, physical medicine and rehabilitation, or emergency medicine by time of fellowship appointment.
  • All applicants must provide official copies of Levels 1, 2 and 3 scores from the United States Medical Licensing Examination or Comprehensive Osteopathic Medical Licensure Examination.

The selection process stringently evaluates performance on the USMLE/COMLEX grades in preclinical or clinical courses, as well as letters of recommendation, communication skills and personal qualities. The program does not discriminate on the basis of gender, race, age, religion, color, national origin, sexual orientation, sexual identity or veteran status.

How to Apply

Interview Process

Applications are accepted beginning in July of each year. Interviews are held from October through November of each year. The fellowship’s application deadline is Oct. 1. All applications are carefully reviewed, and selected applicants are notified via email to interview. Interviews for the upcoming year will be virtual.
