The child neurology program mirrors the Dell Medical School’s focus on educating future physician leaders and developing innovative models of health care and education. We are committed to creating an exceptional learning experience that prepares each resident to enter academic positions, private practice or additional fellowship training.

Each resident spends the first two years with the Dell Medical School’s Pediatric Residency, participating in child neurology educational and social sessions as time permits. The Pediatric Residency’s teaching staff includes pediatric hospitalists, ambulatory pediatricians, neonatologists, pediatric subspecialists and pediatric subspecialty surgeons who work directly with our residents. This strong foundation in general pediatrics prepares each resident well for continued training in child neurology.

The requisite adult neurology training is completed with members of the medical school’s growing adult neurology faculty, where appropriate utilizing an innovative strategy that meshes adult and pediatric training. The Child Neurology Residency benefits from a unique partnership between academic and private practice child neurologists that ensures exposure to a broad range of neurological disorders.

The Child Neurology Residency program is affiliated with the Departments of Neurology and Pediatrics.

Training Facilities

Our primary pediatric teaching facility is the Dell Children’s Medical Center of Central Texas. Outpatient clinics are held at the Child Neurology Consultants of Austin office.
