Child Neurology Residency

Our residents complete two years of training with an impressive array of pediatric hospitalists, ambulatory pediatricians, pediatric subspecialists and subspecialty surgeons. Welcoming its first residents in 2007, the Dell Medical School Pediatrics Residency faculty draws upon more than 35 years of experience turning interns into quality, capable pediatricians as part of Dell Med’s Graduate Medical Education programs. The pediatric teaching staff includes pediatric hospitalists, ambulatory pediatricians, pediatric subspecialists and pediatric subspecialty surgeons who work directly with our residents. This strong grounding in pediatrics prepares residents well for continued training in child neurology.

After completing a child neurology residency in Austin, we expect our residents to be prepared for any professional opportunity, including private practice, academics or a fellowship program. Graduates of our pediatrics and neurology programs have won fellowship positions at competitive programs. In 2017, the first graduate of our program went on to fellowship training in neurophysiology at The University of Texas, Houston.

The Child Neurology Residency program is affiliated with the Departments of Neurology and Pediatrics.

Training Facilities

Our primary pediatric teaching facility is the Dell Children’s Medical Center of Central Texas. Outpatient clinics are held at the Child Neurology Consultants of Austin office.

Dell Children’s Medical Center is the primary training site for the Child Neurology Residency. Inpatient wards, NICU, EEG/EMU, trauma and other pediatric rotations are completed at this location.

All adult inpatient neurology rotations — including general neurology, epilepsy and ICU — take place at this state-of-the-art, high-volume facility. Dell Seton serves people experiencing a wide variety of neurological conditions.
