The Division of Elective General Surgery in the Department of Surgery and Perioperative Care offers advanced, patient-centered surgical care for a wide range of conditions. The division provides comprehensive expertise in the following areas:
- Abdominal wall hernias, from straightforward hernia repair to complex abdominal wall reconstruction
- Gallbladder disease, including minimally invasive approaches for gallbladder removal
- Esophageal and stomach disorders, both meligant and benign, such as gastroesophageal reflux disease, paraesophageal hernia, achalasia and other functional disorders
- Soft tissue masses, including evaluation and surgical management



The division’s surgeons have specialized interest and training in complex abdominal wall reconstruction and revisional foregut and bariatric surgery, enabling care for patients who may require highly technical operations after prior procedures.
