Division of Pulmonology & Critical Care

Advancing Patient-Centered Pulmonary Care & Education in Central Texas  

The Division of Pulmonology and Critical Care in Dell Medical School’s Department of Internal Medicine aims to provide world-class clinical care while advancing the field of pulmonology and critical care medicine through collaborative research and training of new physician leaders. The division works in collaboration with many specialties to ensure the highest quality care for patients and is committed to meeting the expanding clinical needs of the Central Texas region.

Education

The division’s newly approved fellowship in pulmonology and critical care medicine trains its first cohort in 2022. Physicians in the program work in multiple health care settings, gaining experience in varied practice environments and learning how to efficiently navigate different systems to coordinate high-value care.

The division excels in the education of medical students, residents, fellows, advanced practice providers and nurses, and it features education programs that include lectures, case conferences, grand rounds and interdisciplinary conferences with pathology, radiology and other medical subspecialties.

Clinical Care

The division provides the full spectrum of clinical services standard to a pulmonary and critical care program, including critical care, pulmonary consultations, and common and advanced pulmonary procedures. The division features an outpatient pulmonary clinic to care for general pulmonary issues as well as interstitial lung diseases, pulmonary hypertension, lung nodules and sleep-disordered breathing.

The division’s clinical activities take place at several sties across Austin, including Ascension Seton Medical Center Austin, Dell Seton Medical Center at The University of Texas and Medical Park Tower.
