About

Koonj Shah, M.D., is an assistant professor and the division chief of the Division of Pulmonology and Critical Care within the Department of Internal Medicine. He started the Pulmonary and Critical Care Fellowship in 2021 and is the current program director. He is also the co-director for mechanisms of disease and pulmonary and critical care courses at Dell Medical School.

Shah has been active in publications, research and currently mentors medical students, residents, and fellows at The University of Texas Medical Branch and residents at Dell Med. He has shepherded the pulmonary and critical care training curriculum to ensure continued improvement in the training program at the clinic. His passion is in medical education and faculty development.
