Psychiatry Residency

Delivering Comprehensive Training in Psychiatric Medicine

The Psychiatry Residency at Dell Medical School at The University of Texas at Austin is proud to offer a collaborative and collegial environment in which to master the knowledge and skill sets necessary to become part of the next generation of outstanding psychiatrists.

Charles Nemeroff, M.D., Ph.D., chair of the Department of Psychiatry & Behavioral Sciences, gives an introduction to the department.

Clinical training experiences include a wide variety of patient populations and delivery systems within private sector, community, university, state, federal and Veterans Affairs health care systems.

Courtney Kates, M.D., discusses her experience in the Psychiatry Residency.

The program strives to integrate training in neuroscientific, genetic, psychological, sociological, cultural and spiritual perspectives to help residents build a broad conceptual framework to understand and treat individuals experiencing mental illness.
