My time with this program is what inspired my career in psychiatry, and I am very grateful for my time here. I loved the program’s close-knit culture and supportive environment. The mentors I’ve worked with were amazing. Austin is a great place to train. It allows for residents to see a full range of pathology and acuity without the excess clutter and volume. I can only imagine great things to come in the future for the Dell Medical School program

I was lucky enough to spend my third and fourth years of medical school in Austin. Having the opportunity to see the residency program before I entered it only cemented my commitment to the field of psychiatry. The attendings at the Dell Medical School program were thoughtful, caring and helped guide me through the infancy of my career and are still close colleagues to this day. The program helped showed me the various opportunities in the field, and I ended up also completing a fellowship in consultation-liaison psychiatry there. My entire experience helped guide me into my passion of academic medicine.

I greatly enjoyed my training at the Dell Medical School Psychiatry Residency. The people I trained with have become lifelong friends and colleagues. I found wonderful mentors who have guided my growth as an early career psychiatrist. I valued that the program had a variety of training sites and a diverse patient population, which made for a rich education on psychiatric cases and pathology. I am grateful that the program championed a great work-life balance for residents and there was support from faculty and the program leadership.
