EMS Fellowship

The EMS Fellowship trains emergency medicine physicians licensed in the U.S. in the administrative, medical oversight and field aspects of emergency medical systems. Individuals successfully completing the one-year, ACGME-accredited fellowship obtain didactic and practical knowledge to work and excel as a medical director of an EMS agency, an EMS researcher or an emergency-department-based EMS specialist.

The EMS Fellowship became accredited effective July 1, 2020, and is affiliated with the Department of Surgery and Perioperative Care.

Training Facilities

Dell Seton Medical Center at UT Austin.

Dell Seton Medical Center at The University of Texas is a Level 1 trauma center and maintains a volume of approximately 70,000 patients per year. It is also the primary academic hospital in the community. It provides a diverse patient population and is the primary teaching facility for the Emergency Medicine Residency.

Ascension Seton Medical Center.

Ascension Seton Medical Center Austin is a 448-bed private community tertiary care referral center with a high-acuity medical patient population. It sees 34,000 emergency department visits a year and has a 30% admission rate.
