I’m originally from a small mountain town in Idaho and love everything outdoors. On weekends I can be found hiking or tandem biking with my husband on our vintage tandem bike “Marge”. I fell in love with emergency medicine while living and working oversees in Eastern Africa where I discovered the impact of community-based care in improving health outcomes. I am thrilled to join Dell Med EM and provide care to the Austin community.

In addition to being able to see the breadth of what we so diligently studied during medical school, pursuing emergency medicine allows me to meet people in some of their greatest times of need with compassionate care. I chose Dell Med EM because of the incredible faculty and residents that are dedicated to serving the diverse community of Austin, as well as the opportunity to enjoy such a unique and flourishing city. In my free time, I enjoy being with my wife, playing video games or guitar, and I’m always down to share good conversation over food or a good cup of coffee.

Interests
My interest in emergency medicine was piqued while working as a scribe after six years of teaching high school biology in D.C. I liked that people of all different backgrounds and needs were seen in the ED. EM fits into why I went into medicine - to serve everyone in their time of need regardless of their socioeconomic status. The camaraderie of Dell Med residents and faculty and their desire to teach made me want to continue learning here. I enjoy being in the sunshine, hiking, bouldering, board games, and spending time with friends and family.

Interests
The field of emergency medicine has endless possibilities, and I’m excited to explore the sports medicine route. As a military dependent, I grew up across the country, but fell in love with Austin while attending undergrad at The University of Texas at Austin. As a former athletic training student with the Longhorn football team, I am thrilled to be back in the area to attend Texas sporting events with my husband. I love outdoor activities, trying new food while traveling, and playing with my Belgian Malinois, Athena.
Max Wright
Dell Medical School at The University of Texas at Austin (M.D.)
Interests
As a medical student at Dell Med, I relished every moment in the ED, and often the things that sent others running away are the very things that attracted me (like big messes and challenging patients). I love bringing order to chaos and making decisions under stress. I spent ten years in the Marine Corps and then several years in paramilitary operations, so my interests are tactical medicine, emergency medical services and global health. Outside the ED, I like to work out, run, and woodwork. I’ve got two wonderful teenage kids, a perfect longhaired dachshund, and a great church family at Austin Ridge.

Born in Miami, Florida, and having attended undergrad in Tennessee and medical school in California, I consider myself a little adventurous. When not learning the art of medicine, I like to fly airplanes, explore nature, eat delicious foods, read engaging books, play board games and spend time with wonderful people. It’s even better when those can intersect.
