Developing Well-Rounded Leaders in Child Neurology
Welcome to the Child Neurology Residency at Dell Medical School at The University of Texas at Austin. This is a great time to become a child neurologist and an exciting time to begin residency training in Austin. The residency program mirrors Dell Med’s focus on educating future physician leaders and developing innovative models of health care and education, and it is committed to creating an exceptional learning experience designed to prepare each physician for a variety of careers in the field of child neurology.
Each resident spends the first two years with Dell Med’s Pediatric Residency, participating in child neurology educational and social sessions as time permits. The Pediatric Residency’s faculty includes pediatric hospitalists, critical care specialists, outpatient pediatricians, neonatologists, pediatric subspecialists and pediatric subspecialty surgeons who work directly with residents. This strong foundation in general pediatrics prepares each resident for continued training in child neurology.
The requisite adult neurology training is completed with members of the medical school’s growing adult neurology faculty. Outpatient subspecialty rotations in adult neurology engage adult and pediatric training whenever possible. The program’s child neurology rotations include a mix of inpatient consultation duty, outpatient specialty clinics, elective rotations and rotations in ancillary disciplines such as neuroradiology, psychiatry and neuro-ophthalmology.
The Child Neurology Residency is affiliated with Dell Med’s departments of Neurology and Pediatrics.
