On Rare Disease Day, join Dell Medical School’s Center for Rare Disease for an enlightening seminar series to raise awareness about rare diseases and their impact on patients’ lives. William A. Gahl, M.D., Ph.D., founder of the National Institutes of Health’s Undiagnosed Diseases Program, provides the keynote address and presents a special Pediatric Grand Rounds lecture.
Gahl’s groundbreaking work includes developing treatments for cystinosis and identifying genes responsible for numerous rare disorders. He is a member of the National Academy of Medicine and recipient of the EURORDIS Lifetime Achievement Award for his contributions to rare disease research and patient care. The Undiagnosed Diseases Program has diagnosed over 350 rare diseases and discovered 30 new genetic conditions.
Researchers, health care professionals and advocates for rare diseases are encouraged to attend the seminars.
