About the Event

The 2025 Ken Shine Prize awardee Harvey V. Fineberg, M.D., Ph.D., presents “Humanism, Professionalism and Quality of Care,” where he shares his insights on advancing health leadership and shaping the future of medical education.

Fineberg is president of the Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation and former president of the U.S. National Academy of Medicine, provost of Harvard University, and dean of the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health. His career has centered on health policy and medical decision-making, with research spanning global health, medical technology, vaccines, pandemics and innovation in health care. Fineberg chairs the boards of the Science Philanthropy Alliance and the China Medical Board Foundation and serves on the advisory board of the Peterson Center on Healthcare. He has also chaired the boards of the Hewlett Foundation and the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace and co-founded the Society for Medical Decision Making.

The lecture is from 4 to 5 p.m. and available via livestream.

For in-person attendees, a networking reception follows the lecture, offering the opportunity to connect with colleagues who share a commitment to excellence in health.

The Ken Shine Prize Lecture features the winner of the Ken Shine Prize in Health Leadership, awarded to a visionary leader who has made significant advancements in health. The annual prize and lecture are made possible by the Kenneth I. Shine, M.D., Excellence Fund in Health Leadership, endowed in 2016 in honor of the former executive vice chancellor for health affairs of The University of Texas System.
