The application process for the Addiction Psychiatry Fellowship entails letters of recommendation, review of application materials and program interviews. The program is registered with the National Resident Matching Program and uses the Electronic Residency Application System (ERAS).
Eligibility
To be eligible, applicants must:
- Pass the Comprehensive Osteopathic Medical Licensure Examination or the United States Medical Licensing Examination Steps I, II and III.
- Be eligible for a Texas license upon completion of residency.
- Come from a school listed on the Texas Medical Board’s list of medical schools with substantial equivalence.
- Be in the process of completing or have completed a general psychiatry residency.

International Medical Graduates & Foreign Medical Graduates
IMGs and FMGs, please note the “Substantial Equivalence List” located under the Before You Apply sidebar on the Full Texas Medical License Overview page of the Texas Medical Board website. If the medical school attended is not listed, applicants will not be invited for an interview and may find it difficult to obtain a training permit in Texas. The list is subject to change at any time.
Application Procedure
Fourth-year general psychiatry residents apply for fellowships in addiction psychiatry through the Electronic Residency Application Service. The program participates in the National Resident Matching Program, program code: 1793401F0.
The application deadline is November 1.
