About
Shanti Nulu, M.D., MPH, is a general cardiologist with advanced training in echocardiography, as well as degrees in global health (MPH) and medical anthropology (M.A.). She is dedicated to working with underserved populations, both locally in Austin and globally with AMPATH in Kenya. She works with Central Health to lead new initiatives for socially oriented heart failure care and increased access to specialty services for the underserved population in Travis County. She is also actively engaged in global cardiology through AMPATH and has a special interest and expertise in rheumatic heart disease. She works collaboratively on building surgical capacity for endemic rheumatic heart disease in Eldoret, Kenya.
Nulu regularly attends on the general cardiology consultation services at Ascension Seton Medical Center and Dell Seton Medical Center. She is part of the Ascension Seton/Dell Medical School cardiology fellowship core faculty and directs the ambulatory cardiology fellowship experience at CommUnityCare Health Centers. She also regularly teaches an elective in medical anthropology for Dell Med students. She is an Austin native and enjoys spending time in Austin parks with her husband and three children on weekends.
