About

Saurin Gandhi, D.O., is an assistant professor and hospitalist at Dell Medical School at the University of Texas at Austin. Gandhi is the acting internship director for internal medicine and a prior hospital medicine fellow in safety and quality. Gandhi has interests in medical education, safety and quality, and faculty development. He has presented at several conferences both locally and nationally. In addition to direct patient care, Gandhi contributes to the safety curriculum, reviews, safety events, quality improvement, quality improvement engagement and education, and he instructs residents and medical students in clinical medicine.

He is the lead and organizer for the Safety Event Review Committee, the Case Review, the Morbidity and Mortality Review, and the Code Review Committee. Gandhi has created numerous manuals to standardize processes within the department. Gandhi created the “Handbook of Patient Safety and Quality” that was widely distributed within Department of Internal Medicine at Dell Seton Medical Center. He has also contributed to the 5th update to the Texas Medical Association Subcommittee’s Patient Safety and Medical Errors Course — Chapter 6: Systems-Based Improvement. Additionally, during the COVID-19 pandemic he created the a “COVID Manual” which was used primarily for internal medicine at Dell Seton; however, it’s reach went beyond the state. Outside of medicine, he is an artist who specializes in medical anatomy art. His work was featured in the frontispiece for the Integrative Neurology textbook published by Oxford University Press , as well as in podcasts and journals.
