About
Sarah Mills, M.D., MPH, is an assistant professor in the Department of Internal Medicine and program director of the Hospice and Palliative Medicine Fellowship.
Mills focuses on providing compassionate, personalized care to patients and families, helping them choose the care most in accordance with their own values. Her interest lies in improving communication between patients and medical teams and teaching these vital skills to future generations of physicians. She is a lifelong learner and a passionate teacher.
Mills is also passionate about improving health disparities. She has dedicated much of her career to teaching and promoting health equity at Dell Medical School. Her aim is to create a safe and inclusive learning environment that promotes both structural analysis of the medical and social systems, as well as introspection of how individuals either perpetuate or disrupt systems of oppression. She feels that if future physicians and leaders are equipped with the knowledge that health inequities exist, the skills to analyze the social and structural forces creating and perpetuating injustice, and the confidence and ability to advocate and organize for harm reduction and transformation about any one issue, the system will improve.
