About

Michael Graves, M.D., is active in private practice in Austin, Texas, where he is a Mohs surgeon, vein specialist and dermatologist with a focus on Mohs skin cancer surgery, facial reconstruction and medical venous disease.

Graves grew up in Austin, Texas, and attended Brown University, graduating cum laude. He attending The University of Texas Southwest Medical School and graduated with Alpha Omega Alpha honors. Graves completed his dermatology residency at Medical College of Georgia at Augusta University, serving as chief resident his final year. He underwent a fellowship with specialized training in Mohs micrographic surgery and venous disease at Scripps Clinic in La Jolla, California. He is board-certified in dermatology, procedural dermatology and is a diplomate of the American Board of Venous and Lymphatic Medicine.

Graves has a strong focus in physician and dermatology advocacy, serving for years as the senior legislative director for the Texas Dermatological Society, the Dermatology Specialty Delegate and the Interspecialty Society Committee Delegate with the Texas Medical Association, and the alternative CPT Advisor to the American Medical Association for the American Venous and Lymphatic Society. He has served on numerous other committees with the American Academy of Dermatology, American Society for Dermatology Surgery, American College of Mohs Surgery, and the American Venous and Lymphatic Society.

Graves was the recipient of the 2019 Ruth Bain Young Physician of the Year Award by the Travis County Medical Society, an award given to a young physician demonstrating exceptional leadership qualities and dedication to the profession of medicine. He has authored numerous scientific articles in noted medical journals and has given many lectures at regional and national meetings.
