About
James L. Wise, M.D., is a board-certified gastroenterologist in Digestive Health, a clinical partnership between Ascension Seton and UT Health Austin. He specializes in inflammatory bowel disease, including Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis.
Wise earned his medical degree from Drexel University College of Medicine. He completed a residency in internal medicine at Hennepin County Medical Center, where he served as chief resident, and a fellowship in gastroenterology and esophageal disease at the Mayo Clinic College of Medicine and Science.
Wise has extensive experience in clinical practice, medical education and research, contributing to the advancement of gastroenterology services and the training of future physicians. He has served as an assistant professor and the director of the Esophageal Motility Laboratory at Mayo Clinic, as well as an associate professor and the Director of Gastroenterology at M Health Fairview. His research focuses on Crohn’s disease, ulcerative colitis and inpatient issues in gastroenterology. He has published numerous peer-reviewed publications and book chapters. He is also an active member of the American Gastroenterological Association, the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, and the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation.
