Eric Cleveland

About

Eric Cleveland serves as the senior director of operations and strategy for the Department of Internal Medicine at Dell Medical School at The University of Texas at Austin. In this role, he partners closely with physician leadership to advance strategic growth, practice redesign and operational excellence in support of the department’s clinical and academic missions.

Prior to joining Dell Medical School in 2025, Cleveland spent nearly 27 years at the Mayo Clinic in various leadership roles, including operations administrator for Radiation Oncology and Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine. His expertise spans neurology practice management, graduate medical education, and enterprise-wide innovation strategy.

Cleveland brings a distinctive, human-centered approach to health care administration, grounded in both operational rigor and organizational development. In addition to his administrative leadership, he has served as adjunct faculty, teaching organizational behavior and systems thinking.

He holds a master’s degree in organizational management and a Master of Social Work (MSW), a combination that informs his collaborative leadership style and commitment to sustainable, people-centered health system transformation.
