About

Frederick Masoudi, M.D., MSPH, MACC, FAHA, serves as the chief science officer and vice president of research and analytics at Ascension Health and a clinical professor of medicine at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus in addition to his faculty position at Dell Medical School. Previously, he was a professor with tenure in medicine in the Division of Cardiology at the University of Colorado AMC, where he was a physician-scientist and a general clinical cardiologist. He received his medical degree in 1992 from the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in Baltimore, Maryland, and completed his residency and chief residency in internal medicine at the University of California, San Francisco, in 1996. He then completed a fellowship in cardiology at the University of Colorado in 2000, including a Master of Science degree in public health from the University of Colorado Department of Preventive Medicine and Biometrics.

Masoudi’s research is focused on care delivery in cardiovascular medicine. His areas of interest include the dissemination of evidence-based care in clinical practice, the impact of therapies on patient-centered outcomes, health disparities and research study design. He has published more than 350 peer-reviewed journal articles and 100 guidelines, editorials and policy statements.

Masoudi has served as the chair of the American Heart Association and the American College of Cardiology Task Force on Performance Measures; chief scientific advisor and oversight committee chair for the American College of Cardiology’s NCDR programs; and on the board of trustees of the American College of Cardiology. He was elected to the American Society of Clinical Investigators in 2014.

He has been recognized as a master of the American College of Cardiology, a distinguished fellow of the American College of Cardiology and has been awarded the American Heart Association Quality of Care and Outcomes Research Scientific Council Distinguished Service Award and the American Heart Association Quality of Care and Outcomes Research Outstanding Lifetime Achievement Award.
