<p>Jorge Almeida, MD, PhD, is a board-certified psychiatrist and the Director of UT Medicine’s <a href=”https://utmedicine.org/get-care/browse/clinics/mulva-clinic-for-the-neurosciences/bipolar-disorder-center”>Bipolar Disorder Center</a>. He specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of bipolar disorder. Additionally, Dr. Almeida is an associate professor in the Dell Medical School Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at The University of Texas at Austin.</p>
<p>Dr. Almeida earned his medical degree from Faculdade de Medicina do ABC in Santo André, Brazil and his doctorate in neuroscience from the Universidade de São Paulo in São Paulo, Brazil. He completed a residency in psychiatry at Brown University and a fellowship in clinical and translational affective neuroscience at the University of Pittsburgh. </p>
<p>Dr. Almeida seamlessly combines extensive clinical experience with a strong academic background to provide compassionate, evidence-based care tailored to his patients’ needs. His neuroimaging research focuses on using functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) to investigate biomarkers of mood disorders, particularly bipolar disorder, by combining standard neuroimaging data analysis with effective connectivity and pattern recognition techniques.</p>
