About

James Marroquin serves as a mentor in the Developing Outstanding Clinical Skills (DOCS) course at Dell Medical School. He also precepts medical students in the primary care longitudinal rotation. As an internist in private practice, he was awarded the 2015 Ruth M. Bain Young Physician Award by the Travis County Medical Society. He has been selected as one of Austin Monthly’s Top Doctors and by Texas Monthly as a Super Doctor. He is a fellow in the American College of Physicians. For several years, he has served as affiliate faculty at Texas A&M Medical School, precepting medical students in their internal medicine rotation.

Marroquin is board-certified in internal medicine and palliative medicine. He has practiced with Hospice Austin and lectured on palliative care for Texas A&M Medical School and in community settings. He has a certification in medical ethics and served as co-chair of the task force designing the medical ethics and humanities themes in the Dell Medical School curriculum. His special interests are medical journalism, medical ethics and humanities and the intersection of spirituality and health.
