Imelda is the Health Sciences Librarian, providing help with accessing and using the resources available through UT Libraries; information literacy instruction and support to medical students, interns and residents; consultation services to faculty and researchers to help with designing and conducting literature searches, identifying resources for teaching and learning, and assisting in the use of reference management tools; evaluation and selection of materials for library collections; and creation of library guides to aid in the discovery and use of informational resources.
Imelda holds a Master of Library and Information Science from IUPUI (Indiana University Purdue University Indianapolis) and a bachelor of arts from Oberlin College. Her previous position was at the Lister Hill Library of the Health Sciences, University of Alabama at Birmingham, where she served as a health sciences librarian to the School of Health Professions. Librarianship is her second career; her first career was as a pianist and music teacher.
In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her family, playing piano, singing, hiking, learning Italian, reading all kinds of literature whether it be fiction or non-fiction, academic or popular, traveling, and creating all sorts of sewing and needlepoint projects. She’s been accused of having too many hobbies!
