“I’m honored to join a cohort of mission-driven leaders who are committed to creating lasting impact,” said Mian, professor in Dell Med’s Department of Pediatrics. In addition to his appointment at Dell Medical School, he serves as the division chief for pediatric hematology-oncology at Dell Children’s Medical Center. “Collaborating with this diverse group inspires me to explore bold ideas and collective solutions grounded in shared values. The Presidential Leadership Scholar offers a unique opportunity to refine my leadership approach while addressing the critical, often overlooked issue of financial toxicity in pediatric cancer care.”

Over the past decade, the scholarship program has brought together nearly 600 established, purpose-driven leaders to collaborate and make a difference in the world as they learn about leadership through the lens of the presidential experiences of George W. Bush, William J. Clinton, George H.W. Bush and Lyndon B. Johnson.

Over the course of the program, scholars will travel to each participating presidential center to learn from former presidents, key former administration officials, business and civic leaders, and leading academics. They will study and put into practice varying approaches to leadership and exchange ideas to help strengthen their impact.

Mian’s clinical interests include myeloid leukemias, stem cell transplantation and supportive care. His research interests encompass neutropenia/sepsis and predictive model building with data analytics by applying artificial intelligence methodology.

The 2026 class of scholars was selected after a rigorous application and review process. Scholars were chosen based on their leadership growth potential and the strength of their personal leadership projects aimed at addressing a critical challenge or need in a community, profession, or organization.

The 2026 program will begin on Jan. 21 in Washington, D.C.
