About the Event

In this installment of the Department of Population Health Grand Rounds, Nora Gimpel, M.D., presents “Community Health Training in Family Medicine.”

Gimpel is a distinguished teaching professor and vice chair of community health in the Department of Family and Community Medicine at UT Southwestern Medical Center. Her research focuses on increasing access to health care for underserved populations through community-based participatory research and education. Gimpel also serves as director of UT Southwestern Medical School’s community health scholarly activity and distinction tracks and as director of the Community Medicine Fellowship program.

Learning Objectives

By the end of this presentation, the audience participant should be able to:

  1. Explain the need for enhancing community health education in family medicine.
  2. Describe current programs for community health training at UT Southwestern Medical School.
  3. Describe current initiatives for community health training and research implemented in the Family Medicine Residency program at UT Southwestern.
