About the Event
In this installment of Pediatric Grand Rounds, Eric A. Williams, M.D., presents “Quality as Strategy: From Standards and Safety to Outcomes and Trust.” Dr. Williams is the chief quality officer at Cincinnati Children’s, vice president of the James M. Anderson Center for Health Systems Excellence, and a professor within the Division of Critical Care in the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Cincinnati.

Learning Objectives:
By the end of this presentation, the audience participant should be able to:
1. Describe the evolution of healthcare quality from regulatory compliance to patient-centered outcomes, experience, equity, and value.
2. Differentiate structural, process, safety, experience, and outcome measures across a patient’s care cycle.
3. Explain why reliable processes and defect reduction, while essential, do not by themselves demonstrate treatment success.
4. Apply the IOM STEEP aims to evaluate the completeness of a health system’s quality strategy.
Target Audience:
- Primary: Pediatricians, pediatric subspecialists, family medicine physicians and pediatric residents
- Secondary: Nursing and hospital staff
