About the Event
In this installment of Neurology Grand Rounds, Eske Willerslev, D.Sc., presents “The Population History of Western Eurasia: Population Genetics, Disease Susceptibility and Infectious Diseases.” Willerslev serves as the Prince Philip Chair of Ecology and Evolution at the University of Cambridge in the UK and the Lundbeck Foundation Professorship in Evolution at Copenhagen University, Denmark. Additionally, he serves as director for the Centre of Excellence in GeoGenetics and the National Tissue Bank and Sequencing Facility.

Objectives
By the end of this presentation, the audience participant should be able to:
- Review how ancient DNA can inform us on the population history of the largest continental area on Earth, comprising Europe and Asia.
- Recognize the ramifications of the concepts presented.
- Discuss present day disease susceptibility and pathogen evolution.
