In this installment of Neurology Grand Rounds, Annika Medhus, M.D., presents “Sex Differences Within Parkinson’s Disease and Other Movement Disorders.” Medhus is a neurology resident at Dell Medical School.

Objectives
By the end of this presentation, the audience participant should be able to:
- Discuss the role of sex steroid hormones, such as estrogens and androgens, in modulating dopaminergic pathways and their impact on movement disorders.
- Assess how sex influences the prevalence, phenotype and progression of Parkinson’s disease and other movement disorders.
- Evaluate the implications of sex differences for personalized treatment strategies and patient management in clinical practice.
- Identify the importance of considering sex as a biological variable in the design and analysis of clinical trials for movement disorders.
Target Audience
- Primary: Neurosurgeons, neurologist and other medical specialties
- Secondary: Nursing staff, residents, students and allied health professions
