In this installment of Neurology Department Lecture series, Bruce H. Cohen, M.D., presents

“Mitochondrial Disorders: 44 Years Where We Were and Where We Are Going.” Cohen is a professor of pediatrics and integrative medical sciences at Northeast Ohio Medical School. He is also the director of the NeuroDevelopmental Science Center at Akron Children’s Hospital.

  1. Identify the prime features of mitochondrial inheritance and Mendelian inheritance.
  2. Understand the classic clinical features of mitochondrial disorders in children.
  3. Understand the basic laboratory evaluation of children with suspected mitochondrial disorders.
