In this installment of Neurology Department Lecture series, John A. Bertelson, M.D., presents “Alzheimer’s Disease: A New Era for Diagnosis and Treatment.” Bertelson is an assistant professor in the Department of Neurology at Dell Medical School. He is also an associate professor of neurology at the Texas Tech School of Medicine and the co-medical director for the Comprehensive Memory Clinic at the Garrison Institute of Aging.
In-person attendees should arrive by 7:15 a.m. Breakfast will be available.

Learning Objectives
By the end of this presentation, the audience participant should be able to:
- Describe the latest diagnostic pathways for Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias, including PET and blood-based biomarkers.
- Describe the principles of the current standard of care therapies for Alzheimer’s.
- Identify risk factors for ARIA when treating patients with Alzheimer’s disease.
- Apply the above principles to general neurology and resident continuity clinic practices.
