About the Event

The Center for Health and Environment: Education and Research (CHEER) Seminar Series highlights environmental health-related work at UT and in the Austin metropolitan area.

CHEER Pilot Grant awardees share their research updates and findings.

Mary Jo Kirisits, Ph.D., presents on “Assessing the Infectivity of Drinking-Water Legionella Pneumophila To Elucidate Risk.” Kirisits is a professor in the Department of Civil, Architectural and Environmental Engineering in the Cockrell School of Engineering.

Kerry Cook, Ph.D., presents on “Understanding the Relationship Between Climate Variability and Meningitis Incidence Across Sub-Saharan Northern Africa: Building Our Capacity for Improved Prediction of Outbreaks.” Cook is a professor in the Department of Earth and Planetary Sciences in the Jackson School of Geosciences.
