Learning Objectives
By the end of this presentation, the audience participant should be able to:
1. Describe the rationale for integrating chronic disease prevention and management into pre-clerkship medical education through a health systems science lens.
2. Explain how nationally developed chronic disease prevention and management learning objectives can be operationalized within a first-year medical student curriculum.
3. Demonstrate how a virtual family affected by diabetes can be used to teach chronic disease progression, social determinants of health, patient goals, community resources, and health system barriers.
