In this installment of Best Practices in Medical Education Grand Rounds, Mrinalini Kulkarni-Date, M.D., and Jeff Bixby, M.S., present “Building an AI Culture in Undergraduate Medical Education: A Working Group Model from Dell Medical School.” Dr. Kulkarni-Date is Chief of the Division of Endocrinology and a clinical professor in the Department of Internal Medicine. Bixby is an instructional designer at Dell Med.

Learning Objectives
By the end of this presentation, the audience participant should be able to:
- Describe a structured, multi-stakeholder working group model for developing institutional AI strategy in undergraduate medical education.
- Summarize key findings from a systematic environmental scan of AI integration in UME, including national benchmarking, policy landscape and local needs assessment data.
- Identify at least two institutional or curricular conditions that support a sustainable culture of responsible AI innovation in medical training.
- Discuss considerations in establishing an institutional AI policy.
