About

Sylvia Bhuiyan, LCSW, is a licensed clinical social worker and a part of UT Health Austin’s Integrated Behavioral Health care team. In her role, she serves as a cross-coverage social worker, supporting all UT Health Austin social workers, clinics and services. She provides care management services to address patients’ psychosocial needs and help them achieve their desired goals and outcomes.

Bhuiyan earned both her master’s in social work from Texas State University and her bachelor’s in both sociology and psychology from Texas A&M University–Kingsville. She also completed additional training in eye movement desensitization and reprocessing to assist patients with management of trauma and crisis. Bhuiyan has an extensive history serving within the health care system. She spent more than 28 years working with a local hospital system and has additional experience working with other local and governmental agencies. She is passionate about taking a holistic approach to patient care to ensure optimal health outcomes. She also believes in and advocates for a patient’s right to self-determination regarding their health care needs and treatment.
