About

Steve Smith is the associate dean for student affairs at Dell Medical School. Student Affairs coordinates admissions, student records and an array of programs that support Dell Medical School students throughout their medical careers. These programs include advising students related to career decisions, academic performance, financial literacy and personal concerns. The Student Affairs model he is implementing is focused on close contact with students to identify needs and coordinate the resources of the students, faculty and The University of Texas at Austin to effectively address those needs.

Smith has more than 20 years’ experience in medical student affairs. He has given presentations at national and regional professional meetings on topics related to professionalism, career advising in medical school, match success, student finances, academic success and admissions innovations.
