Shawn Wassmuth, M.D., FACEP

Shawn Wassmuth is a affiliate faculty for the Department of Surgery and Perioperative Care. He has been a faculty member since 1992. He completed medical school at The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio and residency training at Louisiana State University New Orleans Charity Hospital. His academic interests include student education, didactic lectures and trauma.

Wassmuth serves as the emergency medicine clerkship director and military emergency medicine residency site director at Dell Seton Medical Center at The University of Texas. He fell in love with hospital work more than 30 years ago when he was a University of Texas student volunteer in the Emergency Department at Brackenridge Hospital in Austin.

He enjoys playing golf and coaching youth sports, and he never misses a Longhorn football game.
