About

Sharon Long is an assistant professor in the Department of Surgery and Perioperative Care. She grew up in Texas and completed her residency in emergency medicine at Orlando Regional Medical Center in Florida. She previously served as the director of the toxicology rotation for the emergency medicine residency. One of her greatest pleasures is working here in education with our students, residents and great team of faculty.

Her academic interests are toxicology, palliative care, opioid and other substance use disorder, and emergency department systems. Her favorite days are spent with her family traveling, biking, hiking, enjoying music and local food and appreciating her life in Austin.
