Satoshi Furukawa, M.D., is a board-certified cardiothoracic surgeon with the Institute for Cardiovascular Health, a clinical partnership between Ascension Seton and UT Health Austin. Furukawa delivers minimally invasive heart care and open-heart surgery to open narrow arteries, restore blood flow to the heart, repair leaky heart valves, and surgically correct chronic atrial fibrillation.
He specializes in providing comprehensive care and is passionate about early recovery, allowing his patients to return to everyday activities quickly. He focuses on listening and understanding his patients and their health concerns, working with them to create a personalized care plan.
Furukawa earned his medical degree at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania, where he also completed two fellowships: one in research and one in cardiothoracic surgery. He also completed a third fellowship in lung transplantation at Temple University Hospital.
