About
Sarah Kate Bearman, Ph.D., received her Ph.D. in clinical psychology from UT Austin in 2005 and completed a postdoctoral fellowship at Harvard Medical School.
Bearman’s research focuses on the dissemination and implementation of empirically supported practices (ESPs) for youths, particularly the use of research-practice partnerships to increase the fit, adoption and sustainability of research-trialed interventions in low-resource, real-world settings. Although the evidence base suggests that ESPs are efficacious for youths with a wide range of mental health problems, most of these interventions are not available in the settings where children and families receive treatment. Bearman’s research examines the variables that promote and support the effective use of ESPs, with an emphasis on treatment redesign, training and supervision approaches, and the use of nontraditional providers and settings to increase ESP access.
Her work has been supported by the National Institutes of Health, the MacArthur Foundation, the Annie E. Casey Foundation and others. She is the co-author of a transdiagnostic intervention manual for youth conduct, anxiety, depression and trauma disorders (FIRST; Weisz & Bearman 2010) and provides clinician trainings and supervision in ESPs for youths.
