About

Sara Green-Otero, LCSW-S is a licensed clinical social worker and a clinical program manager for UT Health Austin’s Integrated Behavioral Health care team. In her role she supports ongoing process and quality improvement efforts within Dell Medical School’s Department of Health Social Work and supports the social work learner program. She specializes in using an interdisciplinary approach in supporting youth, individuals and their families with strengths-based, solution-focused, client-centered interventions to meet their goals and improve their overall well-being.

Green-Otero received her B.A. in social work from the University of Iowa, where she worked with families experiencing domestic and intimate partner violence. In 2006, she earned her Master of Science in social work from the Steve Hicks School of Social Work at The University of Texas at Austin. Green-Otero is fluent in both English and Spanish. Over the past 16 years, she has worked with various interdisciplinary teams and in medical, school and child welfare settings. Most recently, Green-Otero worked as behavioral health consultant pediatric lead at a federally qualified health center, where she received training regarding use and implementation of the primary care behavioral health model working with youth, individuals and their families.

Green-Otero has dedicated herself to the profession of social work by mentoring and supervising other social workers and hosting social work students in their placements. She uses a strengths-based, servant-leadership approach to educating and promoting the growth of learners and advocates on the needs of individuals and her teams through quality and program improvement.
