About
Rolake Alabi, M.D., Ph.D., is a board-certified ophthalmologist and fellowship-trained vitreoretinal surgeon. She specializes in the medical and surgical management of diseases of the retina and vitreous. She has additional special interest in inflammatory diseases and translational research efforts.
Alabi grew up in England and New York after her family immigrated from Nigeria when she was a toddler. She attended college at Yale University, where she was awarded Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees in molecular, cellular and developmental biology. She then graduated from the Medical Scientist Training Program at Cornell University/Tri-Institutional MD-PhD Program with an M.D. with honors in service and a Ph.D. in cell and developmental biology. She completed a surgical internship and ophthalmology residency at the University of California, San Francisco, followed by a vitreoretinal surgery fellowship at Duke University.
Alabi has authored numerous peer-reviewed articles and presents regularly at national and international conferences. She has been the recipient of multiple institutional and national awards, including the Heed Ophthalmic Foundation Fellowship and the American Academy of Ophthalmology Robert Copeland Fellowship award.
In addition to her clinical and research interests, Alabi is passionate about community outreach and education.
