About
Adron Harris has over 35 years of experience in the field of alcoholism research, with much of his work focusing on understanding the molecular mechanisms of alcohol on ligand-gated ion channels. His team’s research encompasses the fields of genomics, behavior, epigenetics, systems biology and bioinformatics.
Overall, Harris’ work has combined functional, structural, behavioral and genomic approaches to define sites of alcohol action. As a faculty member, Harris has mentored more than 20 graduate students who earned Ph.D. degrees, 49 postdoctoral fellows and many faculty members starting their careers.
Harris serves on the Advisory Boards of NIAAA funded research centers at Yale University, UNC Chapel Hill, Indiana University and Oregon Health Sciences University. He also serves as INIA PI and consortium director, where the primary objective is to identify drugs for alcohol addiction that are in late-phase clinical trials or have existing FDA approval for other purposes.
