About

Paul Sheeran, M.D., is a board-certified pediatric anesthesiologist and pediatric intensivist in the Texas Center for Pediatric and Congenital Heart Disease, a clinical partnership between Dell Children’s Medical Center and UT Health Austin. He specializes in administering anesthesia for patients undergoing complex congenital heart surgery and caring for critically ill patients in the cardiac care unit. Additionally, Sheeran is a professor in both the Dell Medical School’s departments of Pediatrics Surgery and Perioperative Care. He also serves as program director of the Pediatric Critical Care Fellowship at Dell Med.

Sheeran earned his medical degree from the University of Washington School of Medicine and his bachelor’s in the Spanish language and literature from Whitman College. He completed both an internship and residency in general pediatrics at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center and a fellowship in pediatric critical care at Children’s Medical Center of Dallas. He also completed a residency in anesthesiology at The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center and a fellowship in pediatric anesthesia at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia.

Sheeran’s clinical and research interests include anesthesia management of patients with a difficult airway, anesthesia management of patients with a mediastinal mass and the use of extracorporeal membrane oxygenation in pediatric patients with respiratory failure or sepsis.
